Bharat Slate, A Solar Powered Indian Tablet

Bharat Slate

Now finally something every Indian can be proud of has set its foot on the Indian market!! The homegrown company, Bharat Electronics has launched a low priced new tablet pc, Bharat Slate. Truly Indian, the Bharat Slate runs with an Android 2.2. The major and warmly welcomed feature of this new tablet pc is obviously, its price. The company plans to sell this new tablet pc at an unbelievable
low price of 3000 Indian rupees. The tablet's design is done by The Indian Ministry of Rural Department with an intention of conducting poverty surveys, with the tablet, a noble mission meant to be accomplished.

The unique feature of this Indian tablet is that its battery can be charged with solar light. The Bharat Slate tablet which for the time being will be sold within the country, BEL Company has its aim to sell about six lakh pieces this year. This won't affect the company's profit, limiting the sales to a country of more than 1 billion. The prime mission of the tablet, the poverty survey itself is expected to fetch the company Rs. 1,000 Crore this year. Company has expectations and high hopes that the tablet sale would boost their civil sector business by this fiscal. Company claims that the data can be stored and updated to a central server real fast with the tablet.

The company could manufacture 2000 Bharat Slates in a short period of just 4.5 months. Though comparatively less attractive and having limited features, the tablets still are capable of offering quality services to the people in India. Any other features other than the solar power battery or an Android 2.2 version processor have not yet been revealed, although it doesn't seem to have affected the tablet sales or booking.

Bharat Slates thus can be expected to pose a considerable threat to the other international brands in the market and thus hopefully forcing the other manufacturers to bring forth similar low priced, yet superior performance guaranteed gadgets.
