The Sony Ericsson Mini Pro SK17i is an Android smartphonesporting a QWERTY slide form factor. The Xperia SK17i runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and features a 3 inch capacitive touch display(230 x 480 pixels). The SK17i is the successor to the Xperia X10 Mini Pro and packs several upgrades like bigger screen, faster processor, front facing camera and an improved keypad. The 1 GHz Snapdragon processor in the Xperia SK17i is coupled with 512 MB of RAM and allows quicker response times even for CPU intensive HD games.

The Xperia SK17i sports the same 4 Corner UI as the rest of its Xperia Mini siblings, although Sony Ericsson has added minor usability tweaks to improve navigation. Apart from this, the Xperia Mini SK17i packs the usual Gingerbread features like Wi-Fi tethering and the ability to control wireless radio from the notification bar. The5 megapixel camera on the Xperia Mini SK17i supports a plethora of features like Face detection, Image Stabilizer and Geotagging. The phone supports 720p HD video recording with Touch Focus to ensure blur-free clips. The front facing VGA camera enables video calls.

Design

The Xperia Mini Pro SK17i sports a slider form factor measuring a rather compact 92 x 53 x 18 mm. The handset sports a unique hinge slider that delivers a solid, play-free action with smoother glide. The full QWERTY keypad on the Xperia Mini Pro SK17i features chiclet-style keys for improved tactility and faster typing. The handset comes with a physical Home button in the center, flanked by capacitive Back and Menu buttons on either side.

Battery and Storage

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini SK17i is powered by a Lithium-Ion battery and gives a talk time of 5.8 hours and 331 hours of standby. The 320 MB of internal storage in the Xperia Mini Pro SK17i can be upgraded up to 32 GB with microSD cards.

Connectivity and Features

The Xperia Mini Pro can connect to the web via 3G, Wi-Fi, GPRS and EDGE networks. The Sony Ericsson SK17i is DLNA certified and can wirelessly connect to DLNA enabled devices for viewing your movies and pictures in big screen. The SK17i boasts a powerful multi-driver speaker powered by Sony xLOUD technology that delivers powerful bass and crisp high frequency acoustics. The phone supports multiple audio formats and connect to any generic headphones with the 3.5 mm port.

The Sony Xperia SK17i is preloaded with the Timescape app, which integrates your Facebook, Twitter and MySpace feeds into a single platform. The intuitive interface allows you to comment directly on pictures of your friend's status updates with quick comment option. Furthermore, Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro can integrate your Facebook album into your phone gallery. The SK17i's built in A-GPS module is optimized for faster satellite locks and zero-wait navigation. The phone supports turn-by-turn directions for driving and walking navigation. Other preloaded Google services like YouTube, Google Maps, Google Search, Gmail and Gtalk are also on board.

Be double sure before purchasing this phone

I purchased this two days back not from Flipkart but from a very renowned shop. Actually, the phone came late to flipkart.
Probs:
Built quality poor : While inserting the SIM card the SIM socket broke and the first handset became unusable. They gave me another sealed phone. Thank god this all happened inside the showroom. Else I would have lost my money coz this is not covered under warranty. They make poor quality phones and if anything happens it is considered as accident and not covered.
Phone is loose and shaky : Its is the worst slider I have ever seen. Even Desire Z is better in terms of mechanism. You try to compare this with Milestone or Desire Z. Just hold these phones in your hand and you will know.
Backcover has no lock : Like Xperia X10 mini the back cover still have same problem, there is no lock and in future back cover will get loose. Probably that's why they are providing an extra back cover.
The battery is too low: 1200mAh for Android c'mon Sony you can do better than that.
Pros:
The processor and RAM is OK making phone quite fast.
The QWERTY keys are well placed and addictive
Size of phone is optimum not too big or small

This is an awesome phone for 15k budget.. has got best in class 5MP camera with HD video recording..
and Supports every feature supported by big brother like ARC and NEO, Even ADOBE flash is supported, Multi TOuch UI, and ofcourse sony ericsson user experience...
